The chapel of Sainte-Marie- du-Cap , currently located in the municipality of Lege- Cap-Ferret is the only surviving member of a large estate built by Lesca Leon , public works contractor on his return from Algeria 1864. It consisted of a large villa in Moorish style called the Palace of the Pasha , a school, a rectory and various staff accommodation surrounded by a large park planted with rare and new species. Brought up in 1884-1885 by the architect Jean -Eugène Ormières , this chapel shows the oriental mode that develops on the Arcachon basin in the second half of the nineteenth century. However, it is the only religious building which uses such decorative repertoire combining motifs and symbols and Arab Christians.
