Italy - Tuscany - Vetriano Featured in the Guinness Book of Records in 1997 as the smallest historic public theatre in the world, the Vetriano Theatre measures just 71 square metres, but includes everything one would expect of a full-size playhouse. Built in 1890, it has a trapezoidal plan and two orders of balconies. In the 1980s, structural instability forced it to close, but thanks to the pro-active input of FAI`s Lucca Delegation, the theatre was purchased by the Trust, which has restored it and made it once again an appropriate venue for plays and other forms of art. It currently plays host to events in partnership with the Academy of the TEATRO ALLA SCALA
