Madeira is a very mountainous Island with steep cliffs falling into the Atlantic Ocean. Mists constantly roll over and through the Mountains. The roads are steep and tortuous with many tunnels cutting through the rocks. Everywhere there are flowers and terraced fields or levadas growing crops. Villages nestle into the landscape and Flat Topped plateau areas where windmills generate electricity. The predominating mountain flowers are spiky Pride of Madeira Flowers, Daisies , Broom and Agapanthus
