Civil rights activist, agitator, comedian, author, entrepreneur, and former college track athlete, Gregory, is caught in the act of making jokes about politics, society, and race relations before students at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, California on February 14, 1975. Born in St. Louis on October 12, 1932, he has fathered 11 children. An octogenarian, he champions vegetarian and vegan diets and continued to perform stand-up well into his later years. Gregory died at 84 on August 19, 2017 in Washington, DC.
