The Church was built of brick in 1849-1853. It was built on the foundations of the old white-stone St. Nicholas Cathedral of the late 14th-early 15th centuries and collapsed in 1844. Four-column single-domed Church on the basement approximately repeats the shape of the previous building. However, it was rebuilt with hipped roof instead of ancient traditional vaulted roof, with a new Baroque styled head. New Church was consecrated to the apostles Peter and Paul. In Soviet times the Church was closed and completely lost all internal decoration, interfloor overlapping were arranged. In the 1980s the Church was used as children`s music school, then as local history Museum of Mozhaysk. In 2003, the Church was returned to believers. Later baroque head was dismantled and a new dome in the tradition of the 17th century shaped bulbs was installed. Now the Church is valid and it was re-painted.
